CUPE Bursary Awards
4th Annual CUPE 998/Manitoba Hydro Joint Bursary
This $600 joint bursary will be awarded to an individual attending a full-time program at Red River College. As with the scholarship awards, eligible are CUPE 998 members in good standing or their family members, and CUPE 998 students.
The bursary is set up as an endowment trust fund. It was established to commemorate the 40th anniversary of CUPE 998 as a chartered union. Red River College Student Awards Office manages the Fund, reviews the bursary applications, and will select and notify the recipient.

8th Annual CUPE Scholarship Awards
CUPE 998 is offering three $1000 scholarships this year - one entrance and two in-course awards. Refer to documents below for full details.
Eligible individuals are current CUPE 998 members in good standing or family members (spouse, children, stepchildren, grandchildren, brothers, and sisters). CUPE 998 students are also eligible to apply.
For 2011, there are 3 scholarship award payouts of $1000 each:
- CUPE 998 ENTRANCE Scholarship (1st year)
- CUPE 998 IN-COURSE Scholarship (2nd year & beyond)
- ROSS C. MARTIN IN-COURSE Scholarship (2nd year & beyond)

Call for Scholarship Selection Committee Members
Local 998 is looking for 2 - 3 members to participate on theĀ Scholarship Selection Committee. The committee reviews and rates the scholarship applications. Selection is based on academic standing and a short essay submission. Please note the following:
- Committee members are booked off 1 day on Union business.
- Must be available to review applications in August (date to be determined by committee).
- Committee members and their family are NOT eligible to apply for the awards.
